Depart Kampala or Entebbe early morning (approx 7 AM). Drive approximately 10 hours southwest, stopping at the Equator for photos and coffee, and for lunch in Mbarara. Arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the late afternoon. Check into your chosen lodge, enjoy dinner and an overnight rest in preparation for tomorrow's trek.
After an early breakfast, transfer to the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters for a briefing on gorilla behaviour and trekking guidelines (approx 8 AM). Your assigned ranger guides will lead you into the rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek may last between 2 and 6+ hours depending on the gorillas' location. Once found, you spend one magical hour observing — the gorillas feeding, communicating, and playing just metres away. Receive your trekking certificate. Optional afternoon: visit a Batwa Pygmy community to learn about their traditional forest lifestyle, songs, and dances.
After breakfast, depart Bwindi and begin the scenic drive back north. Stop at the Equator monument in Kayabwe for souvenir shopping and the famous water experiment. Arrive Kampala/Entebbe by early evening. Dropped off at your hotel or the airport.
