You will start your journey early from Kampala or Entebbe, heading southwest — approximately 10 hours drive. You will have stunning views of rolling hills, farms and stop en route at the Equator for photos and refreshments. You will then continue through Mbarara for lunch and then onto Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwest Uganda. On arrival, you will settle in for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a ranger-led briefing on gorilla trekking rules and safety. Groups are assigned to one of the habituated gorilla families, each limited to 8 visitors. Trekking can take 2–6+ hours depending on gorilla movements. The forest is dense and terrain is uneven, so you're advised to wear good hiking shoes and carry water, snacks, and rain gear. Once a gorilla family is found you'll spend 1 unforgettable hour observing and photographing them as they play, eat and communicate. After trekking return to your lodge for lunch and an optional Batwa community visit or nature walk later in the afternoon. Then return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and check out. Begin your drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, stopping again at local shops or the Equator for photos and souvenirs. You'll pass through rolling hills and rural villages — a great last chance to soak up Uganda's countryside. Arrive in the late afternoon or evening, completing your safari.
